What is a disposable email address?

A disposable (or temporary) email is a short-lived address that forwards or receives mail for a limited time. It's useful for sign-ups, verifications, and testing — anywhere you don't want to give out your real address.

How long does my address last?

Each address is valid for 15 minutes from the moment it's generated. After that, a fresh address is issued automatically. You can also click 'New address' at any time to rotate manually.

Can I receive verification codes here?

Yes — that's a common use case. Open the inbox, click Refresh, and the latest verification message will appear. Read the code, then move on. Don't use it for accounts you care about — when the address expires you lose access.

Are my messages private?

Yes. The interface stores your address and inbox in your browser's local storage only. We don't link the address to an account, and we don't log who reads what.

Can I send email from my temporary address?

No. Temporary Email is receive-only. It's designed for sign-ups, verifications, and testing — not for replying.

Why shouldn't I use this for important accounts?

Because the address expires after 15 minutes. If a service later sends a password reset, billing notice, or login alert, it will arrive at an inbox you can no longer access.

Can the service read my mail?

Technically the mail server has access to incoming messages — that's true of any email host. Pick a service that's clear about retention and doesn't link addresses to accounts.

How Disposable Email Services Work

It starts with a domain

A disposable email service owns one or more public domains. The MX records for those domains point at the service's mail servers, so any email sent to anything@thatdomain.com lands there. Some services use one domain; others rotate through dozens to stay ahead of blocklists.

How an inbox is created

When you load the page, the service generates a random local part — like quick.otter4821 — and pairs it with one of its domains. That combination is your address. No account is created server-side; the address is just a label the mail server will accept. The inbox itself is usually a short-lived record in a database, keyed to your address with a timestamp for when it should be deleted.

Expiry and cleanup

Most services delete inboxes after a fixed window (15 minutes for Temporary Email) and reuse the local part for future visitors. That's why your address feels random and disposable — because it is. After expiry, any further mail sent to that address bounces or is silently dropped.

What runs in your browser

The UI polls or subscribes to the mail server for new messages and renders them. With Temporary Email, your address and inbox state are also stored in your browser's local storage so a page refresh doesn't lose your session.
